<p><strong>Avril Lavigne nació el 27 de septiembre de 1984 en Napanee (Ontario), un pequeño pueblo de Canadá.<br />
Desde pequeña sintió su vocación a través de la música. Cantó en la iglesia, luego en festivales y por último haciendo música country en concursos, hasta que fue descubierta por Arista Records.<br />
Fue durante un viaje a Nueva York para componer cuando Avril atrajo la atención del buscador de talentos Antonio “LA” Reid, quien la contrató para Arista. Con solo 16 años se mudó a Manhattan y comenzó a trabajar en su primer CD. </p>
<p>De Nueva York se trasladó a Los Ángeles. Aunque Avril prácticamente vivió dentro el estudio durante su estadía en Nueva York, al comienzo sus esfuerzos fueron en vano.<br />
En lugar de rendirse, resolvió cambiar de costa. Los Ángeles le dio a Avril la oportunidad que necesitaba. Allí se relacionó con el productor y compositor Cliff Magness. Las canciones para el álbum Let Go comenzaron a brotar, con Magness y el pujante equipo de producción The Matrix en el timón. Al poco tiempo, Avril se vinculó con Nettwerk Management, empresa que ha administrado las carreras de estrellas como Sarah McLachlan, Dido, Coldplay, Barenaked Ladies y Sum 41.<br />
Poco más de un año después, su primer single Complicated y su álbum debut Let Go triunfan en Estados Unidos y otras partes del mundo.<br />
